| Back in town, I stopped at the SES (State Emergency Service) depot where crews were preparing sandbags to meet the urgent needs of local shops and residences. It was only 7am and water was already 0.5m deep on some sections of roads. Authorities were predicting that the floodwaters would not peak until early afternoon. Moving amongst and talking to the locals, I sensed a lot of unease. This would be no ordinary day - and they knew it. | | | |
